The Importance of Community … with Kay Warren
Posted by: Lori Wilhite
Last week Jud and I had the joy of attending Catalyst West. It is such a great conference; we absolutely love getting to be part of it.
I got to meet and hug quite a few bloggy and Twitter friends. Nothing like bringing virtual relationships into the real world.
One of my favorite things that I got to do at Catalyst was hosting a luncheon for Pastors’ Wives and women in ministry with Kay Warren. Ooohh … I loved it. About 60 awesome women joined us for a great time of Q&A.
Let me first say, Kay is amazing. At the risk of seeming quite stalker-ish, I have wanted to meet her for a long time. We have talked on the phone and via webcam, but there is nothing like sitting down over tea with someone and really looking into their eyes and hugging their neck. Kay is the real-deal. A woman who obviously loves God, knows the Word, loves people, helps the hurting, and deeply cares about fellow Pastors’ Wives. I really appreciated her time and all of the wisdom that she shared both personally and at the lunch.
So … of course I wouldn’t leave you guys out! I set up my little Flip and went to town recording. I’ll share the 3 segments of her time with us over the next few weeks. I’m going to start in the middle where we jumped into our discussion about ministry.
If you are on FB or an RSS feed, make sure to click through so you can watch the video. You won’t be sorry.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us Lori! What wisdom she has wrapped up in her years as a PW! I can’t wait to watch the rest of them. So wish I could have been there! And someday I know I will get to meet you and hug your neck too! Can’t wait!

It was so awesome to be able meet you and so many other pastor wives. And Kay’s words really helped and encouraged all of us who live in the fishbowl. My goal this was to make a few friends that I can walk this road with. I don’t want to walk it alone and Kay’s story about her cousin’s husband is a tragic reminder that we are not meant to be alone.
Thank you for hosting such a lovely event. Cannot wait until the next one!
