Fun Friday … That is so 1992 of You
Posted by: Lori Wilhite
Not too long ago my ultra hip husband tweeted: The Cowboys are awesome …. Not!
To which I responded: That is so 1992 of you.
And, as luck would have it, all of Twitter agreed with me.
A few weeks after I busted Jud, Tiffany’s husband Herbert tweeted a little Talk to the hand, cuz the face ain’t listening.
Of course I couldn’t let that go without a little: Hello, 1990.
I do this all the time. I hear some kind of blast from the past comment, take a random shot in the dark at the year it came from, and throw it out there. I’m probably never right on the year, but it is one of those things that I really crack myself up saying, even though I’m probably the only one laughing.
I know my husband isn’t the only one who does this. In fact, most of us have at least one silly thing that we’ve yet to let go of. Maybe it is a saying. Maybe a playlist. Maybe a fashion piece.
About two years ago, my friend Holly Furtick told me in one of her fashion blogs that I needed to let my toe ring go. I can’t do it. I like it. It was a little my-feet-will-never-be-giant-and-swollen-again-because-I’m-not-having-more-kids gift that I got myself after I had Ethan. So here it is 2012, and I’m still sporting my cute toe ring. It is very 1998 of me.
This weekend’s assignment: What are you still holding on to? What year is it from (even if it is a random guess)? And Why?

Haha! This takes me back to boom boxes and parachute pants! Good times.
Girl, wear that toe ring proudly.
I am still wearing my belly button ring that I got in 1995! Partially because it hurt so dang bad to get pierced, but I figure, “Hey, it lasted through 3 pregnancy’s.”
I may still be rockin’ it at 65? Who knows?! (my apologies for that scary visual.)

That’s awesome! Oh how I loved my toe ring. I was so sad to part with it during my first pregnancy. I still have the tan lines from where it sat for almost 10 yrs!

It took me forever to wear my boots over my pants, not under them. But.. I have let it go and am fashionably acceptable now.

I am still holding hands with my high school sweetheart. Steve and I meet 9th grade 1992
that year changed my life.

I’ll never take 38 Special’s Hold on Loosely off my playlist. And I’ll never let go of my crush on John Cougar Mellencamp…or Jon Bon Jovi.

I still say that is the boom diggity. It is through back I know but sometimes I just have to say it. I really need to let it go that saying is not cool anymore. Lol.

Whatever I hang on to my husband conveniently ruins in the laundry or accidentally throws away.

I am still rockin’ my earring up in the cartilage of my ear. It’s very 1995 of me, but that sucker took a whole year to heal, so it’s sort of a badge of honor that I hung in there and I just haven’t let it go:)

I cannot let go of my toe rings. One has been on for going on 14 years, that is more than i can say for my wedding rings.. which i may have broke.twice.
music – When Doves Cry. I have never heard an actual dove cry, so I rely on Prince for his knowledge of the bird species.
fashion – I am hopelessly in love with, and shant ever give up on tie-dye. Started in high school with my hippie phase, and never stopped. Long live the tie-dye!
Sayings – LOL. its so easy. it conveys approval through laughter, and though I LOVE the saying LSHIDMTAMSFO I type way too slow to use that. (Laughing So Hard My Sombrero Falls Off and I Drop My Taco.)
that’s it.
peace out. (just kidding, i never say that its sooooo 2001)

Love this…I don’t have many material items that I have hung on to, but I still flash a peace sign {with my fingers of-course} to people. I was never really a hippie {not even sure if I spelled it correctly lol} but for some reason I’ve always held up those two fingers. Guess it could be worse. I never caught on to throwing deuces so I just keep promoting peace.
